Strawberry Pie Competition
Strawberry Pie Competition
Sunday, May 18th 2025
Registration Deadline: Wednesday, May 14th
Think you’ve got the berry best pie in town? Enter your sweetest creation in the Fayetteville Strawberry Festival Pie Contest.
Categories
Experienced Baker
- Experienced bakers would describe themselves as more than just Thanksgiving pie
bakers. These bakers may be professional bakers or chefs or a homebaker who really
knows their stuff and makes a MEAN pie. The pies entered by these bakers will be
elevated in technical skill and reflect years of experience.
Junior Baker
- Junior bakers would describe themselves as hobbyists or budding enthusiasts. They’re
learning the technical skills to make a really great pie. These bakers are
non-professionals who have less experience, but no less deserve the opportunity to
compete among their fellow similarly skilled pie makers
Kids Mud Pie Contest (up to age 12)
- Our youngest community members are invited to create a strawberry patch in the style of
a classic chocolate pudding mud pie. The patch must be made entirely of edible
products (no real mud or plastic please, friends) and should reflect the child’s effort
though we hope it will be a fun activity for parents to engage with as well.
Prizes
Best in Show
- Best across all categories, best taste, flavor combination, and presentation, who’s to say
it won’t go to a mud pie?
In Experienced and Junior Categories
Best Taste Award
★ Love at first bite, ranked 1 to 10. 1 being boiled feet in a rancid rat
reduction and 10 being ecstatic “light of love at last I found you” bliss
Wombo Combo Award
★ Best combination of flavors, use of ingredients to compliment one another.
1 to 10. Judges should evaluate how the various ingredients present
themselves and Compliment each other without flavors or aromas
overpowering or bruising each other. Lower scores in this category would
reflect flavors that are not distinct from one another or cause an
astringent, bitter, or otherwise unpleasant bite. Higher scores will reflect
flavors that bring out other flavors and aromas and are distinct and
pleasant.
Prettiest Pie Award
★ You can judge a book by its cover! High scores in this category will reflect
a cohesive design to the presentation of the pie and technical ability such
as the texture of the crust, whether or not the filling has boiled over and
other such aesthetic considerations. Lower scores will represent lesser
technical skill applied and less intentional fulfillment of the pie’s design.
High scores will reflect higher technical skill particularly in the texture of
the crust and over execution of the pies design.

make-you-turn-inside-out sour patch
