What is the ORA?

Fayetteville’s Outdoor Refreshment Area (ORA) enables guests 21 years of age and older to carry and consume to-go alcoholic beverages in designated cups while wearing the official wristband on public sidewalks and participating property within the boundary of the district.

The ORA is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Know the Rules

  • Patrons must use a designated ORA cup and wristband

  • Beverages in ORA cups must be purchased from a participating business.

  • ORA cups allowed in public daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

  • Do not take your cup into any other alcohol-serving establishment under any circumstance. Do not take your cup into any other business, without their consent.

  • Do not loiter, do not litter, and please recycle.

  • Do not give your ORA cup to anyone else, even if they are 21 years of age or older.

  • Drink responsibly, support businesses safely, and enjoy Downtown Fayetteville.

  • If you are possessing and consuming alcohol at a sidewalk café or outdoor area on private property, the alcoholic beverage cannot leave the area.

  • All State of Arkansas and City of Fayetteville laws still apply.

Know the Boundary

The boundary is roughly square, bounded by Watson to the north, Mountain to the south, East Ave. to the east, and West Ave. to the west. Approved routes have been added to include areas such as the Mill District and businesses along Dickson west of the train tracks.

FAQs for the Public

  • No. Due to the pandemic, cups are one-time use. When you've finished your beverage, toss your compostable cup in a recycling receptacle - don't worry, we'll sort it out.

  • Yes. So long as it was obtained legally from a participating business within the ORA boundary.

  • Not into another alcohol-serving business. This is a violation of State Alcoholic Beverage Control regulations.

    You can take it into a non-alcohol serving business IF they allow ORA cups inside.

  • You can walk and consume your drink bought at a participating ORA business on any public sidewalk within the ORA boundary.
